The program focuses on independent living by:

-assisting residents to establish a balanced lifestyle

-developing healthy relationships

-resolving issues relating to addictions

-assistance in obtaining identification and BC medical card

-preparing meals for oneself

-budgeting your finances

-searching for employment

-going to work

-upgrading education

-cleaning up after oneself

-communal housekeeping chores

-making appointments

-dealing with bureaucracy

-developing supports

-addressing healthand/or mental health concerns

-developing healthy coping strategics

Hobden House

Description

Hobden House provides a home in the community of Surrey for men on Conditional Release from Federal Institutions and men on day parole from Provincial Institutions by promoting essential skills for successful reintegration. Hobden House provides a stable environment fostering skills in the areas of community functioning, employment, substance abuse, and moral suport to afford residents an opportuntiy to become contributing members of society.

  • Beds 17 , 10 bedrooms 3 single, 7 double
  • Population Federal and Provincial men on Conditional Release
  • Age 19 plus
  • Exclusions Individuals refusing treatment for substance abuse issues, mental health issues, sexual abuse issues and violence issues will not be considered

Application Process

The house accepts all individuals and does not discriminate based on offence type or because and indivdual has mental health issues and/or substance abuse issues. See our annual report for statistics on individuals we serve.

If interested in residing at Hobden House you can apply in the following ways:

-Write the Residence Manager and introduce yourself, give some back ground information and provide an outline of your upcoming release plans.
-Inform your Institutional Parole Office to contact Hobden House and request your plans be reviewed at the next CCIB screening
-Contact a Hobden House Representative to arrange for and interview at your institution.
