Programs & Services

The house accepts all individuals and does not discriminate based on offence type or because and indivdual has mental health issues and/or substance abuse issues. See our annual report for statistics on individuals we serve.

Guy Richmond Place assist residents in completing taxes, finding employment, obtaining ID, re-establishing relationships with family and friends, connecting individuals with mental health and substance issues with community resources and with life skills such as handling stress, how to prepare for a job interview, how to problem solve, how to prepare meals and how to access community resources etc.

Description

Guy Richmond Place (GRP) provides residents with a safe home like environment. Residents have access to communal televisons, phone line and voice mail, a weight room and a computer with internet access. Our missison is to provide a supportive homelike environment that assist individuals to become responsible members of society. There are shared and single rooms. GRP purchases food for the house but residents must prepare their own meals. Residents are asked to provide feedback on the program through our yearly resident survey and exit interviews. In addition residents have access to a complaint process for issues they feel the program has not address to their satisfaction.

  • Beds 18 beds-6 single and 6 double occupancy
  • Population Male
  • Age Must be 19 years or older
  • Exclusions Residents refusing treatment for sutstance abuse issues, mental health issues, sexual abuse issues and violence issues will not be considered.

Application Process

Referals are received from Vancouver Parole with applicants screened on a weekly basis. Guy Richmond Place will consider all referrals that meet the following criteria:
1. The potentail resident must be on Conditional Release from a Federal or Provincial Institution.
2. Residents just be able to live in a group setting.
3. Residents must have made some progress on their Correctional Plan
4. Residents must be ambulatory
Individuals can apply by:
-Writing to the Residence Manager and introduce yourself
-Inform your Institutional Parole Officer to contact Guy Richmond Place and request a CCIB screening
-Contact a Guy Richmond Place Representative to arrange for an interview at your institution.

Community Involvement

A couple times a year staff and residents participate with other community members in picking up garbage on the streets to help keep our community clean.
