Programs & Services
The program goal at Emerald Street is to work through our clients denial so that they accept the reality that their lives are unmanageable due to substance abuse. Our environmental objective is to create a Modified Therapeutic Community in which role taking and participation in decision making prompts a sense of responsibility and concomitant behaviour.
Each resident is paired with a Counsellor who works with their Parole Officer. Together they develop and implement a case plan that will lead them towards their ultimate goal of community integration.

The Emerald Street Treatment Centre is a 28 bed substance abuse facility.

Application Process
Applicants apply to St. Leonard's Hamilton and the admissions committee decide which of our two facilities are best suited. Our Admissions Coordinator also visits the institutions in Ontario and helps assess suitability and plan a successful release. All applications are reviewed by a Community Assessment Team to receive input from the Police, Parole and Community members. This is also where the final decision on our level of support is made.
