Programs & Services
Peter Willis Residence helps with the transition to the community by offering the following services:
• Assessment, Service Planning and Case Management.
• Individual and group recreation.
• On-site employment services.
• Referrals to the Agency’s Addiction and Mental Health Program
• Help securing independent housing.
• Life skills training i.e. budgeting, cooking etc.
• Aftercare support.
The residence is staffed 24 hours per day. Exterior doors are locked and alarmed between midnight and 6 am and the residence is equipped with external security cameras to monitor the front door, front porch, back and side yards.
To ensure staff and client safety, and to maintain program integrity, random breathalyzer, laboratory and in-house urinalysis testing are conducted. All clients are required to provide an in-house urinalysis and breathalyzer sample upon admission.
Clients are eligible for leave privileges as per the Parole Board of Canada Leave Privilege Policy which includes no overnight passes for the first 30 days, 1 weekend pass for up to 3 nights during the second month of residency, 2 passes during the third month of residency and during the fourth month of residence and for the remainder of the client’s stay, they are eligible for weekly weekend passes. Destinations must be pre-approved and occasional support and monitoring calls are made during their leave. Decisions regarding leave privileges are made at Case Management meetings and are based on positive program participation and compliance with the Service/Correctional Plan goals.
Description
St. Leonard’s Community Services-Peter Willis Residence (formerly known as Buffalo Street Residence) is a 11 bed residential substance abuse treatment program for male federal offenders on various types of conditional release.
The program will also consider applications from offenders whose substance abuse is not connected to their offence cycle. Peter Willis Residence provides clients with skills and supports they need to lead a productive, pro-social lifestyle.

Application Process
Referral is a three-step process:
• Submitting an application,
• Interview with Intake Coordinator,
• Acceptance by the Brantford Community Assessment Team.
Those interested in applying can contact the residence via mail or telephone to request that an application form to be mailed. (Mailing address is St. Leonard’s Community Services’ Peter Willis Residence, P.O. Box 638, Brantford, ON, N3T 5P9.) Once received, the Intake Coordinator schedules an appointment to gather background information and determine suitability for the program. All applications are reviewed by the Brantford Community Assessment Team which is comprised of volunteers from the community, CSC and Brantford Police Services.
